Belfort's own Matt Huber will be featured weekly on the Washington Metropolitan area's newest morning show, Great Day Washington, every Thursday! For this segment our style and design expert Matt speaks with one of the morning show's hosts, Chris, about the Great Day Washington set furnished by Belfort Furniture and some excellent design tips and information to get started on your own project.

When designing the set for Great Day Washington we began as we do with any home design. First, we gathered measurements of the space and information about the desired style. Great Day Washington wanted lots of seating for their guests and something bright and cheerful to help guests wake up with the morning show. We customized a Brady Sectional in a light colored base cloth and added some fun, bright accent pillows. The coordinating wood and glass end table and cocktail table also pull a modern style to the set. We found it fitting that this sectional was made in Virginia and the accent tables were made in North Carolina - local sourcing for a local television show!

Matt's design tips include information on how to take advantage of both modern and traditional looks for your home. As you look through magazines and other sources of inspiration, find what you like. Match this with what works with your home's design. For a transitional look, start with a neutral basecloth like this Emma Sofa that includes brown and grey hues that will last you for years. Shown with yellow accents now, you can easily change the pillows in a few years for a fresh, new look.
